Do I need headphones?

Headphones are recommended, especially for the binaural pulse layer, which relies on each ear hearing a slightly different tone. The ambient drone and soft noise layers work fine on speakers too.

Is any audio downloaded or recorded?

No. The soundscape and animated scene are generated live in your browser using the Web Audio API and Canvas — nothing is streamed, downloaded, uploaded or recorded, and no account or sign-up is needed.

How does the focus timer work?

Accepted Answer

Pick a session length (15, 25, 50 or 90 minutes) and start it. The clock counts down, and a soft three-note chime plays when the session ends. You can end a session early at any time.
